Community Open House on Flood Resiliency & programs at Fletcher Memorial Library ~ Margo’s Plymouth report
5/12/25
I am loving the bright sunshine and cerulean sky this Monday morning! The various shades of green are sparkling and birds are singing, sometimes making nests where I would prefer they not do so. Although I have not seen evidence of bears in my yard, I assume they are wandering through. A neighbor up the road has sustained damage in her yard, even when feeders have been taken in. Too bad that bears don’t munch on black flies and ticks!!
Please take note of the Community Open House on Flood Resiliency taking place at the Bridgewater Community Center on Thursday, 5/15 from 4:30 – 6:30. The Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC), in partnership with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), invites you to attend and participate in a community open house around local experiences with flooding for the Woodstock, Bridgewater, and Plymouth communities. The purpose of the open house is to better understand flooding and assist flood-affected towns in better managing floodplain development to reduce flood risk. Come at any point to learn and to share your thoughts and ideas.
More interesting programs at Fletcher Memorial Library for all ages in addition to books, tapes, etc. Organizing & Decluttering 101 on Saturday, 6/14 at 11 AM. Join professional home organizer Kris Harmelink for helpful tips for successful home organizing. Whether you have some decluttering projects in mind or pesky organizing problems you’d like help with,
For youngsters at FML on Wednesdays plan to attend StoryTime where each week focuses on early literacy activities, stories, songs and ends with a craft or science exploration. It is a great opportunity for your child to socialize and meet new friends and for adult caregivers to connect. One Thursdays, 5/15 and 29 from 3:30-4:30pm ages 6-10 year olds can read a Fairy tale and complete a related STEM challenge For more info, go to http://www.fmlnews.org

Green up day recap, Prop Swap, Tyson Ladies Aid update- Margo’s Plymouth report
5/4/25
It looks like our April showers are coming in May! Gloomy as the day would describe my mood as I realized it was still raining this morning and would continue all day. Knowing that we need this precipitation was not much consolation until I saw my first hummingbird of the season. I could let this dreary day bring me down or I could appreciate that there are needs beyond my own. Plants and other creatures will benefit from the moisture and I can tackle some of the many projects awaiting my attention indoors!
I understand that about 40 people attended the free breakfast and lunch at the Town Building for GreenUp Day – all ages and much enthusiasm. Green vests were given out to help ensure safety while collecting trash on the roadways. Thanks to those who prepared and served food and to those who beautified our town!
We can help to beautify each other’s home by stopping at the Prop Swap on Mon, 5/5 5:30-7PM at Fletcher Memorial Library where you can trade/exchange house plants and clippings. Consider signing up for FLM Computer classes. Workshops © Computer Basics 5/9 2-3:30pm © Email Basics 5/16 2-3:30pm © Internet Basics 5/30 2-3:30pm Sign up 802-228-8921 or learn about more programs at fmlnews@gmail.com www.fmlnews.org
A delicious lunch by Joan Day and Liz Naftulin was served at the Tyson Ladies Aid meeting last Thursday. The bake sale on Good Friday was successful and this year there will be four scholarship given to local graduating seniors. Clean up will be happening soon at the Tyson library so that it can be opened for the season on 5/24. Please note that in conjunction with EMS personnel, the annual Strawberry Festival at Camp Plymouth State Park will be on Wed, 6/18.

Select board meeting tonight, Green Up Day info, book club and programs at Fletcher Memorial Library- Margo’s Plymouth report
4/28/25
April is coming to a close. The windy, cold and soggy weekend is behind us and the sun is glorious this Monday morning. I admit that I turned the heat on yesterday to warm up and dry out the house!
The Select Board is meeting tonight at 6 PM at the Town Building. GreenUp Day is this Saturday with free pancakes from 7 – 10 AM, then lunch from 11:30 – 1:30 at the Town Office. I know several people who have encountered ticks, especially while raking up wet leaves. Perhaps tips can be gleaned at https://www.HealthVermont.gov/BeTickSmart
We had a lively time at Book Club last Thursday discussing A Walk in the Woods with five of us in person and one on Zoom. The next meeting is 5/21 to talk about A Month in the Country by JL Carr. We will also choose selections for the next several months.
More interesting programs are being offered at Fletcher Memorial Library in Ludlow. On 5/3, Adam Boyce will give a talk on tthe Need to Belong, where he will provide information on researching your genealogical connections. Prop Swap will be happening on Mon, 5/5 5:30-7PM where you can trade/exchange house plants and clippings. Consider attending the discussion of Echoes of Our Ancestors by Brenda Vicars on 5/12 at 6 PM.
For youngsters at FML, come pick up the Spring Grab and Go Bags during the Week of May 12th Enjoy the activity pages, crafts, coloring sheets and more. FridaysBring children Grades K- 5 to the Friday Afternoon Book Bunch on 5/9 & 5/23 from 3:30-4:30pm Check out the website for many other activities for various ages.
