Well, we have certainly had a mixed bag of weather – rain, snow, frigid cold, & balmy temperatures! It makes it hard for the body to adjust…… What do you think, will Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of early spring come to fruition? I can’t vouch for the veracity of this info, but I read that this celebration dates to the early Christians in Europe – why that would be, I haven‘t a clue! Settlers of Pennsylvania counted on the groundhog’s intelligence, with the first written observance of the tradition beginning in 1886.
The Plymouth Historical Society will be meeting on Sunday 2/10 at 4:15 at the Town Hall, so plan to attend.
Whoops, guess I missed Chris Lynds birthday at the end of Jan – hope it was a good one. If you see Laurie Marechaux around 2/21, please wish her a happy birthday. I would love to share more of these happy occasions, so let me know names & dates – years not required!
Condolences to the family & friends of Wayne Blanchard & George Hopp, Sr, both of whom passed away peacefully on 2/3, following a long illnesses.
Some of our local students will be heading to Panama for the school break. It should be a wonderful opportunity to learn about other places & also to lend a hand. I hope they will report back so news can be included in the column.
I understand that Sue & Al Poirier did a CPR class & certified folks at our Plymouth snowmobile center, for which Missy wanted to express her thanks. We are so fortunate to have all of these local resource people!
