From Sally Scarp, Tyson Ladies’ Aid
The Tyson Library will open for the summer season on Saturday May 25th from 10am – 12 noon. The Tyson Ladies’ Aid Association has recently renovated the building and updated the landscaping. This is one of Vermont’s smallest libraries included on the Vermont historic list of small libraries. The library is located at 286 Dublin Road Tyson, Vermont (located just beyond the Tyson Church across from the Echo Lake Inn – Rte 100).
The library hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am – noon and the first and third Monday of each month from 6pm – 7pm in the evening.
The Tyson Library is run by the Tyson Ladies’ Aid Association which was founded in 1880 to raise funds to bring a church to Tyson. In 1887, the Ladies had purchased the Tyson Iron Works Office and established the Tyson Library at that site. After a period of inactivity, they reorganized in 1910 and have operated continuously since then, using money raised to support the library, fund scholarships and benefit the local community.
