Summer Has Arrived in Plymouth!

6/15/16

Well, it seems like summer has arrived.  An exciting day spent at Montshire Museum recently by two grandmothers and four little ones – 5 and under.  Exhausting, but fun.  When I told Owen that I can’t wait until he is old enough to drive so I can nap on the way home, he said, “Mimi, you will have a long time to wait.”

Speaking of children, don’t forget that Tyson Library (open Tuesday – Saturday 10 AM to noon, and the 1st and 3rd Mondays from 6 -7 PM) has free or reduced fee passes for several places.  Check to see if there is one available on a day that you want to go!

  • Wonderfeet, the children’s play place in Rutland – free for 2 adults, 3 children.
  • Billings Farm pass for 2 adults and their children.
  • The Echo Museum in Burlington offers $4 each admission for 4 guests.
  • VT Historic Site day pass for 8 people in 1 vehicle.
  • VT State Park day pass for 8 people in 1 vehicle.

Brandon at Bethany Birches Camp mentioned that some sessions are working with a waiting list, but others are not yet full.  Feel free to call the office at 802-672- 5220 or go to http://www.bethanybirches.org/register-now/ to learn more.  Two Owens from Tyson Church will be attending the day camp – Owen Bishop and Owen Perrino!

Please note that this month’s Children’s Sunday at Tyson Congregational Church will be 6/26.

If you need child care in town or simply want a special learning experience for your youngster, consider Lauren Skaskiw’s program at the Plymouth Schoolhouse.  Contact her at  www.literacyfundamentals.org or by calling 802 855 7566.  She is continually upgrading the classroom and outdoor play area and she is licensed to take children ages one year and up.   And by the way, congratulations, Lauren on becoming the new Plymouth Schoolhouse Director.

Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey is the selection for the 6/30 gathering of the Reading Group.  I guess I had better get reading……
