Jay Ottaway will perform at the Five Corners Pub and Brewhouse on Oct 8

9/25/16

A bit nippy this past weekend.  It was fortunate that we didn’t have a frost on Saturday night because the cover on one of my tomato plants blew off.  Tom secured them better on Sunday night!  Please note that John Wheeler has returned to the Gill Home.

I checked with Paul regarding the Five Corners Pub at the Salt Ash Inn because their days/hours have changed.  Apparently they are now open from 4:00 PM on Thursday, but Friday through Sunday they will open at noon, so on those days they will serve both lunch and dinner.  I understand that Jay Ottaway will be performing there on 10/8.  I will check on our other eating establishments and let you know their schedules next week!

How exciting – the EBay Class on 10/15 at the Plymouth Community Center from 2-3:30 PM with Willow Bascom, who will be explaining buying and selling on Ebay.  I believe the 1st half hour will be buying, then the rest of the time will be devoted to selling.  The cost is $20 for both parts or $15 for just the selling piece.  Bring items you want to sell and your laptop or phone.  There will be equipment on hand as well.  Call 672-5390 to reserve a spot.

Get cooking and enter the “Anything Apple Recipe Contest” that will take place at the second annual Plymouth Notch Antique Apple Fest on Saturday, 10/1.  All recipes need to contain apples, of course and you can have 2 separate entries.  Only original (or old family) recipes will be eligible.  They will be judged on originality, presentation, and taste!  You need to bring your dish to the Education Center between 10:30 AM and noon on the 1st, along with a copy of the recipe.  Also include your name, address, and telephone number on separate sheet of paper.   The panel of three judges will announce the winner at 12:45 PM and present the Apple Fest prize basket.  A special award will be given for the best junior chef (under 16 years of age).   For further information, call 802-672-3773

Join Anne Collins at 11:00 AM to hear stories about the old recipes she discovered and you can even sample some of them!  Enjoy a BBQ lunch served by the Fire Department.  Stay for Linda Radtke’s presentation “Vermont History through Song” at 1:30.  There will be many other demonstrations and activities to enjoy, so make a whole day of it!
