A weekend of falling snow~ Margo’s Report

1/18/19

I am writing this as the storm is heading eastward threatening us with massive amounts of snow! At least we are better prepared than many places south of us where they don’t even have snow plows!

Perhaps some of you recall when Echo Lake had a large ice fishing conclave. Over the years that has diminished, although a couple of weeks ago I was concerned to see a few folks on the lake when there was water on top of the ice and several areas of open water. Well, the frigid weather has quelled any fears and now some ice houses have appeared. These hardy souls amaze me!

There was a large crowd for the Community Luncheon on 1/17 and our speaker was Tom, talking about what Listers do. In his usual comic fashion, he noted some history he had researched. Years ago they had included in the assessment as taxable items, watches (not made of wood) and a swarm of bees!

The Reading Group discussion of he Late Bloomers’ Club by Louise Miller was fun as usual, especially since it involved a small VT town and presented the happenings at a Town Meeting. We were surprised by a visit from a State Trooper who was in the area and decided to see what was going on! At the next meeting on Thursday, 2/21 we will be discussing Go Ask Fannie by Elisabeth Hyde. This book is not from the Killington library, so readers need to find their own copies.

On Sunday January 27th, yoga with Dawn is to start up again 10:30 AM at the Plymouth Community Center. The cost is $10 per class and all levels are welcome.

Remember there is delicious food available right here in town! The Echo Lake Inn (228-8602) is serving dinner Wed through Sunday. The Inn at Waters Edge (228-8143) is again offering their Italian Thursday 4 course specials, as well as Friday evening meal.winter-at-the-inn

Thanks for the report. Ice fishing on Echo Lake, marvelous. This morning we were watching Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel from Woodstock.

    Will be up come summer
