Although I have been spending most of my time at home, I understand that the leaves are beginning to turn. I am not ready! I guess I will have an opportunity to see for myself when we drive to Rutland on Tuesday, 9/4 for my total hip replacement. I never thought I would be looking forward to surgery, but to be out of this pain and to begin the healing process will be wonderful!

The sight of bright yellow school buses means that school is back in session. It always seems to me that something new and exciting should be starting at this time of year, even for those of us who are no longer in school. Perhaps we should all become motivated to participate in an activity that is challenging and fun!

According to Diane Kemble, the Education Director at Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation, help is being sought at the Notch Schoolhouse in order to keep it open for the public. Folks are needed for 2 hour shifts in the afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 on the following dates: Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and Oct. 13. Mark your calendar for the free Southern Windsor/Windham Solid Waste Management District collection and safe disposal of household hazardous materials on Saturday, September 8 at the Springfield Transfer Station and on Saturday, September 15 at the Goodyear building in Windsor, from 9 AM until 1 PM.
